Skovorodino, Railway town in Amur Oblast, Russia.
Skovorodino is a railway town in Amur Oblast located along the Bolshoy Never River at an elevation of around 400 meters. The settlement sits approximately 670 kilometers northwest of Blagoveshchensk in a sparsely populated region of eastern Russia.
The settlement was first established in 1908 as Zmeiny and underwent several name changes before becoming Rukhlovo in 1911. It was renamed Skovorodino in 1938 in honor of A.N. Skovorodin.
The town maintains regional traditions through seasonal celebrations and community gatherings that connect residents across the Amur Oblast territory.
The railway station serves as a major transportation hub connecting passengers to destinations across eastern Russia via the Baikal-Amur Mainline. Visitors should prepare for a remote location where services and facilities may be limited compared to larger cities.
The town plays a crucial role in an oil pipeline system stretching from Tayshet to Nakhodka and beyond into China. This strategic energy infrastructure has shaped the settlement's importance far beyond its size as a railway hub.
