Taymyr Autonomous Okrug, autonomous okrug of Russia
Taymyr Autonomous Okrug was an administrative territory in northern Russia that covered a vast expanse of Siberian Arctic land. The region was characterized by tundra landscapes, extreme cold conditions, and very sparse settlement.
The territory was established as an Autonomous Okrug in 1930 to serve as an administrative space for remote northern Siberian regions. In 2007 it was dissolved and merged with Krasnoyarsk Krai, fundamentally changing the political organization of the area.
Since this territory no longer exists as a separate administrative unit today, it cannot be visited as a destination. The area is now part of the larger Krasnoyarsk Krai and remains largely inaccessible to tourists due to extreme remoteness and harsh conditions.
