Novolaksky District, Municipal district in western Dagestan, Russia.
The administrative territory covers 218 square kilometers in the Republic of Dagestan, bordering the Chechen Republic and containing fifteen rural communities.
Following deportation of Chechen residents in 1944, the district received new settlers including Lak, Russian, and Avar populations, leading to its current name.
The district reflects the multiethnic composition of Dagestan through its varied languages, traditions, and local festivals celebrated across its rural settlements.
Novolakskoye functions as the administrative center of the district, providing essential governmental services and community facilities for its population of 28,556 residents.
The district operates under a resettlement program where Lak communities gradually relocate north of Makhachkala while Chechen heritage receives restoration in various villages.
