Al Shinanah tower

Al Shinanah tower is a watchtower in Ar Rass with a conical shape and a base that tapers toward the top. The structure contains multiple internal levels, along with a mosque and administrative spaces located at the site.

The tower was built in 1699 during the Ottoman period and served to monitor and control the surrounding territories. It played an important role in military operations and strategic activities in the region.

The structure uses local mud bricks and camel hair, showing the traditional building methods of the Najdi style that have been used in this region for generations.

The site has a single narrow entrance through which visitors can enter and explore the various internal levels. Opening hours are regular, and an on-site custodian maintains the structure and can provide guidance.

The interior is divided by eight different levels connected through a single narrow opening. This design allowed defenders to control access while maintaining strategic observation points at multiple heights.
