Al Bassam Heritage House

Al Bassam Heritage House is a traditional mansion in Unaizah featuring two stories with about 30 rooms that display characteristic Najdi architectural styles and geometric patterns. The structure includes reception areas, living spaces, kitchens, and outdoor zones with gardens and animal pens.

Construction began in 1955 and took four years to complete, demonstrating the wealth of a prominent family from that era. The building was later restored and converted into a heritage center to preserve the region's architectural legacy.

The house reveals how prosperous families organized their daily life, with distinct zones for receiving guests, family living, and household work. The layout reflects the social customs and privacy values that shaped life in this region.

The house is open daily with clear signage and information panels available in Arabic and English throughout the space. Wear comfortable shoes as you will walk through multiple rooms and levels, and be prepared for traditionally low ceilings in some areas.

The structure was built entirely from local materials, including fieldstone for the foundation, mud bricks for the walls, and tamarisk wood for ceilings and doors. This use of materials sourced from the surrounding area reflects the regional building methods and craftsmanship of the period.
