Gezira

Gezira is a state in Sudan located between the Blue Nile and White Nile rivers, with Wad Madani as its capital city. The landscape consists mainly of agricultural land shaped by an extensive irrigation system that serves the region's farming communities.

The construction of the Sennar Dam in the 1920s transformed the region into a major cotton-producing area through large-scale irrigation. This engineering project fundamentally changed how the land was farmed and developed.
