White Nile

White Nile is a state in central Sudan with significant size and scope. The region contains several important urban centers and borders multiple neighboring areas, including a boundary with South Sudan to the south.

The area was under Anglo-Egyptian control before Sudan became independent in 1956. This turning point changed how the region was governed and structured politically.

Different communities live across the region, each with their own traditions and ways of living. This diversity shapes how people interact and celebrate together in their daily lives.

The region is organized into smaller administrative divisions managed from different centers. Rabak serves as the main administrative hub, while Kosti and Ed Dueim are other significant towns.

The region hosts one of the largest populations of refugees from the southern neighboring country anywhere in Sudan. These settlements are spread throughout and significantly shape the social landscape.
