White Nile, Administrative region in central Sudan

White Nile State spans 39,701 square kilometers and shares borders with six other states, including an international boundary with South Sudan.

The state remained under Anglo-Egyptian administration until Sudan gained independence in 1956, marking a significant transition in its governance structure.

The population includes multiple tribes such as Hassanyia, Ajimi, Al Selaim, Al Ahamdaa, and Kenana, each contributing to regional traditions.

The state divides into nine administrative localities, with Rabak serving as the capital and Kosti and Ed Dueim functioning as major urban centers.

White Nile State maintains the largest South Sudanese refugee population in Sudan, with numerous refugee settlements across its territory.
