Neelain University, university in Khartoum, Sudan
Neelain University is a public university in Khartoum, Sudan, offering programs in medicine, law, social sciences, and other fields. The campus is made up of several buildings spread across a flat area, with classrooms, libraries, and computer labs all within walking distance of each other.
Neelain University was founded in 1993, making it one of the newer universities in Khartoum. Over the following decades, it expanded its faculties and built up its campus to meet growing demand for higher education in Sudan.
The name Neelain refers to the meeting of the Blue and White Nile rivers near Khartoum, which gives the university a strong local identity. On campus, students from across Sudan mix freely, and the grounds reflect the everyday social life of a young generation.
The university sits in a central part of Khartoum and can be reached by public transport or taxi without much difficulty. Since it is an active campus, visitors should keep in mind that access to certain buildings may be limited during teaching hours.
Although the university is not located on the riverbanks, its name directly refers to the point where the Blue and White Nile rivers meet, a place called Al-Mogran. This connection gives the institution a name that doubles as a reference to one of the most recognized geographical features of Khartoum.
