Avicii Arena, Concert arena in Sweden
Avicii Arena is a large hemispherical building in Stockholm designed for sports competitions and music performances. The structure holds up to 16,000 people and regularly hosts ice hockey, basketball, and other sporting events.
The building opened in 1989 as the Stockholm Globe Arena and was the world's largest hemispherical structure at that time. It was renamed in 2019 to honor Tim Bergling, the late Swedish musician known as Avicii.
The venue hosts major music festivals and concerts with international performers throughout the year. Visitors experience contemporary live music culture that defines the city's entertainment scene.
The site is located on Södermalm Island and is easily accessible by public transportation with ample parking available. It is advisable to arrive early to avoid crowds and have time to explore the surrounding area.
The roof can open and close, transforming it into an open-air space, which is extremely rare for a building of this size. This technical feature allows events to be held in varying weather conditions and across different seasons.
