Globenomrdet is an entertainment district in southern Stockholm housing several major arenas and commercial spaces spread across multiple buildings. The area includes the spherical Avicii Arena, the Tele2 Arena for ice hockey and handball, along with numerous shops, hotels, and restaurants.
Development of the area began in 1986 with the iconic spherical Globen Arena as its centerpiece, transforming southern Stockholm. Additional arenas and facilities have since been added, establishing the district as one of Scandinavia's largest entertainment centers.
The area functions as a major hub for music and sports fans in Stockholm, hosting regular national and international events. Visitors come here to experience concerts, sporting competitions, and to gather in the surrounding cafes and restaurants.
The area is easily accessible via the Globen metro station on the green line and sits close to central Stockholm. Ample parking is available, numerous hotels offer accommodations, and a wide range of restaurants and shops operate throughout the district.
A gondola lift system called Skyview allows visitors to ride to the top of the spherical Avicii Arena. This unusual vantage point provides an unexpected perspective of the entire facility and surrounding Stockholm landscape.
