Haninge Municipality

Haninge Municipality extends over 2,160 square kilometers, including 458 square kilometers of land and 1,702 square kilometers of water in the Stockholm archipelago.

The municipality formed in 1971 through the combination of Västerhaninge and Österhaninge, adopting a coat of arms with a capercaillie and an anchor.

The population of 99,751 residents includes 35 percent of people with international backgrounds, creating a mix of Swedish and global traditions.

Three main islands - Utö, Ornö, and Muskö - connect to the mainland through a combination of car tunnels and regular ferry services.

The region contains 20 nature reserves and encompasses more than 3,600 islands and islets, with Tornberg standing as the highest point in Stockholm County.
