Qalamoun Mountains

The Qalamoun Mountains form a ridge system extending from north to south with peaks reaching around 2,400 meters (7,874 feet) in elevation. The range features rugged terrain, steep slopes, and deep valleys that create a dramatically varied landscape throughout the system.

The mountains served as a natural defensive barrier protecting ancient trade routes and settlement areas. Archaeological evidence points to continuous human occupation spanning multiple historical eras across the region.
