Siirt

Siirt is a city in southeastern Turkey situated at about 895 meters (2,935 feet) elevation among valleys and mountains. The city serves as an administrative center for numerous surrounding villages and smaller communities across the region.

Siirt was originally part of the Bitlis Vilayet under Ottoman rule before becoming a provincial capital after the Turkish Republic was established in 1923. This change brought new administrative importance to the settlement.
