Bor, Administrative division in Central Anatolia, Turkey
Bor is an administrative district in Central Anatolia situated on a high plain at around 1,115 meters elevation, located southeast of Niğde city. The area comprises several neighborhoods and is characterized today by livestock farming and local craftsmanship.
The settlement originates from Hittite civilization as Tuwanuwa and later became known as Tyana under Roman rule, when it developed into a major Christian center. This long history left traces visible as archaeological remains and ancient structures reflecting different periods.
The district is known for traditional crafts, especially carpet weaving and leather work, practices that families have maintained for generations. Visitors can observe these skills being practiced in small workshops throughout daily life in the community.
The area is best explored on foot, with its elevated location offering good views across the surrounding plain. Proximity to Niğde city and local connections make it easy for visitors to reach and navigate.
The Köşk Höyük excavation site shows extensive remains from the Hittite period, while old Roman waterworks and bathhouses remain visible in the area today. These remnants offer a direct look into the daily life of different ancient cultures.
