Aybastı

Aybastı is an administrative center located 54 kilometers inland from the Black Sea coast within the Canik Mountains. The settlement sits at 764 meters elevation and is surrounded by meadows and farmland that support agricultural and beekeeping operations.

The settlement carried the Greek name Ibasdi until the 20th century, when it became known as Aybastı. This name change reflected broader transformations taking place in the region during that period.

People here maintain traditional practices and connections with family members who work in larger cities. This exchange between the countryside and urban areas shapes the everyday rhythm of the community.
