Bulancak, Administrative district on the Black Sea coast in Giresun Province, Turkey.
Bulancak is an administrative district on the Black Sea coast of Giresun Province that spreads across roughly 721 square kilometers. It contains 58 villages and three municipalities with a combined population of around 69,415 people.
The region was settled during the Hittite period between 1400-1200 BC and was then called the land of Azzi. It later became known as Terastios and then Akköy under Ottoman rule before adopting the name Bulancak in modern times.
Hazelnut farming and fishing remain central to how people live and work along the Black Sea coast. You notice small orchards and fishing villages everywhere you look in the district.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit when the weather is mild and comfortable. The region is well connected by roads to neighboring areas, making it easy to explore the villages and Black Sea coastline.
The area was historically important as a trading port with active shipping routes for goods. Visitors can still find traces of this maritime past in the old fishing harbors scattered throughout the coast.
