Altındere Valley National Park

The Altındere Valley National Park extends across 4,800 hectares of land, featuring dense forests, mountain springs, and numerous hiking trails through the Black Sea region.

The Turkish government established Altındere Valley National Park in 1987 to protect the natural environment and cultural heritage of the Trabzon Province.

The fourth-century Sumela Monastery stands within the park boundaries at 1,200 meters elevation, containing preserved religious artworks and Turkish architectural elements.

Visitors reach the park via minibus services from Trabzon city center to Maçka, followed by a walking path as vehicle access is not permitted inside.

The park houses 135 plant species, 43 mammals, 184 bird species, and maintains a network of 2,600 kilometers of plateau paths through its territory.
