Boztepe hill, Trabzon

Boztepe is a hill several kilometers southeast of central Trabzon that offers views across the Black Sea region. Its summit holds multiple fountains and a mosque built where an older church once stood.

The hill held religious importance from ancient times, a significance that continued through different faiths and periods. A church building stood there in the 19th century before being replaced by the mosque that stands there now.

The site features the Fountain of Saint John and connects to local stories about a dragon that shape how people understand this landscape. These narratives have passed through generations and influence how visitors experience the place today.

The site is open around the clock and offers seating areas and space for various activities. The paths are in good condition and allow visitors to move through the area easily.

One of the fountains is known as the milk fountain and has a connection to the nearby Kaymaklı Monastery. Another spring near Hoşoğlan village goes by the name Dragon's Fountain and features in local lore.
