Karaca Cave, Show cave in Torul, Turkey.
Karaca Cave is a show cave in Torul featuring natural passages and chambers that extend about 105 meters underground. The cave displays varying ceiling heights reaching up to 18 meters and contains several pools of water throughout its chambers.
A geological engineer named Sukru Eroz studied the cave between 1983 and 1990, mapping out its passages and chambers. This research led to the official opening of the site for visitors in 1996.
The rock formations inside display white and dark blue mineral deposits created by flowing water, showing how the region's geology shapes the underground landscape. Visitors can see these layers and colors throughout the chambers, each one telling a story of water movement over time.
The cave is situated at an elevation of about 1550 meters and is accessible from the Gümüşhane area. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes with good grip since the ground inside is often wet and uneven, with pools of water present throughout.
The cave system contains four main caverns that are subdivided by natural dripstone walls, creating six distinct chambers with their own character. These naturally formed walls of mineral deposits act as natural dividers throughout the underground passages.
