University Faculty of Educational Sciences Toy Museum, University toy museum in Beşevler, Turkey.
The Educational Sciences Toy Museum displays tin toys, matchbox cars, dolls, traditional games, and miniature household objects organized across multiple exhibition spaces. The collections document how toys and their production methods evolved over time, showing everything from simple wooden items to manufactured vehicles.
Established as Turkey's first institution dedicated to preserving toys, it was founded by the Children's Culture Research and Application Center at Ankara University. Its creation marked a shift toward scientific study of toys as a window into childhood experiences across generations.
The exhibits reflect how toys shaped childhood experiences across different eras and reveal what entertained children in each period. Visitors encounter dolls, vehicles, and household miniatures that show which toys mattered most to families at different times.
The facility opens Tuesday through Friday with two daily sessions, and children under 18 receive free entry. Plan your visit according to these hours and allow time to walk through the different exhibition sections at a relaxed pace.
Beyond displaying objects, the museum operates as a research facility where students and scholars study how toys relate to child development and learning. This dual function as both exhibition space and academic laboratory sets it apart from typical toy collections.
