Wenshan District, Administrative district in southern Taipei, Taiwan
Wenshan District is an administrative area in southern Taipei located in a hilly region with the Jingmei River running through it. The landscape features mountains on three sides and blends urban neighborhoods with rural zones of tea plantations and bamboo forests.
The district was formed in 1990 through the merger of Jingmei and Muzha townships after they transferred from Taipei County to Taipei City in 1968. This consolidation created a unified administrative region in southern Taipei.
The area is home to National Chengchi University and Taipei Zoo, serving as a hub for education and recreation. Tea culture remains alive in the Maokong plantations, where visitors can observe how tea is grown and prepared in family-run operations.
The Brown and Green lines of Taipei Metro serve the district, connecting places such as Taipei Zoo, Muzha, Wanfang Community, and Jingmei stations. Multiple stations make it easy to move around and explore different parts of the area.
The area maintains extensive tea plantations and bamboo groves in its eastern hills where traditional growing methods are still practiced today. This patchwork of farmland and nature is uncommon so close to a major city.
