Fudekeng Environmental Restoration Park

Fudekeng Environmental Restoration Park is a 98-hectare green space in Taipei featuring grass slopes, cycling paths, walking trails, and a remote-controlled aircraft zone within natural surroundings. The terrain rises gradually across the site, creating distinct areas for different recreational uses.

The site functioned as Taipei's first major landfill starting in 1985 and was used until 1994. It was converted into an environmental restoration park in 2004, becoming an example of how degraded land can be returned to nature.

The site demonstrates how communities can reclaim land through green spaces and outdoor activity. Visitors can observe how families use the open areas for recreation and how the landscape supports education about environmental recovery.

The park is open year-round and free to visit throughout the day for casual exploration. Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the site requires moving on foot across paths and grassy areas.

The site includes Energy Hill, home to northern Taiwan's largest ground-mounted solar installation. While not immediately obvious on a walk through, these panels demonstrate how the park also generates clean power for the city.
