Sifen Creek

Sifen Creek is a waterway flowing through Nangang District for about 7 kilometers, originating from mountain valleys in the surrounding highlands. It eventually joins the Dakeng Stream near the Academia Sinica campus.

The area experienced severe flooding from two typhoons in 1998, which prompted major changes to the waterway. Authorities then rebuilt the banks using natural stone to prevent future damage.

The creek serves as a neighborhood gathering place where locals spend time exercising and observing wildlife on a daily basis. Walking paths line the banks, connecting different parts of the community together.

The creek offers several entry points and well-maintained pathways along both banks where visitors can walk and explore. These areas are open and accessible throughout the year for outdoor recreation.

Fish ladders have been built at steep sections to help local fish species migrate upstream during spawning seasons. These structures allow fish to bypass obstacles and continue their natural movement patterns.
