Lushan Hot Spring, Hot spring in Ren'ai Township, Taiwan
Lushan Hot Spring is a thermal source in Ren'ai Township that discharges bicarbonate-rich water with temperatures between 75 and 90 degrees Celsius. The water is hot enough to cook food directly in it and is used by visitors across both sides of the Mahaipu River.
During Japanese administration, this location was named Cherry Hot Springs because of the many cherry trees planted around the bathing areas. This name reflects how the earlier authorities shaped the site with vegetation.
The springs divide into two distinct sections across the Mahaipu River, connected by a suspension bridge that links the traditional and modern bathing facilities.
The best time to visit is during cooler months when temperatures are more pleasant and visitor crowds tend to be lighter. Access to both riverbanks is provided by a suspension bridge across the water, making it easy to explore both sides.
The water has a pH level between 8 and 10, making it alkaline and carbonated, which some visitors believe offers health benefits. This chemical composition is a rare quality found in only a few thermal sites in the region.
