鳳山水庫, Water reservoir in Kaohsiung, Taiwan
The Fengshan Reservoir spreads across the Xiaogang and Linyuan districts, formed by dams and waterways that store and distribute water for industry. A walking path of about three kilometers circles the water, allowing people to access different views along the way.
The reservoir was completed in 1996 as part of a major infrastructure project to meet the water needs of the southern industrial region. Its construction helped the growing industry in Kaohsiung obtain the water supply it required.
The place serves as a gathering spot where local people walk together during morning and afternoon hours, sharing the space with others from their community. These regular visits have become part of the daily routine for many residents in the area.
Access is available in the morning from 5:00 to 8:00 and in the afternoon from 14:30 to 16:30, with parking near the guard station at the entrance. Wearing comfortable shoes is helpful since the path is flat but covers a good distance.
During the winter months, cormorants nest at the reservoir, turning it into a place where visitors can watch these water birds up close. Early morning hours are the best time to spot these birds gathering along the walking paths.
