Caoya Rail Yard

Caoya Rail Yard is a railway facility in Qianzhen District that handles train maintenance, storage, and operational coordination for Taiwan's rail network. The yard processes various train types and manages their daily movements as part of regular operations.

The yard originated during the late Qing Dynasty and underwent major expansion during Japanese colonial rule between 1895 and 1945. These early investments in rail infrastructure formed the foundation for Taiwan's modern transportation system.

The transition from Taiwan Railways Administration to Taiwan Railway Corporation in 2024 marked a new chapter in the facility's role within Taiwan's transportation network.

The yard is located in the Qianzhen District and is reachable by public transportation, though the facility itself is mainly reserved for operational use. Visitors can observe activity from outside, but should know that track access is restricted for safety reasons.

The yard operates as an essential hub within Taiwan's railway system, managing train arrivals and departures while supporting both passenger and freight operations throughout the island.
