Wujia Longcheng Temple, Chinese temple in Fongshan District, Taiwan.
Wujia Longcheng Temple is a Chinese temple in Fongshan District, Taiwan, featuring a traditional multi-tiered roof decorated with glazed ceramic figures and dragons. Inside, several altars hold statues of different deities, flanked by hand-carved wooden panels and large incense burners.
The temple was founded in 1886 and quickly became a religious center for the people of the Fongshan area. It has been restored several times since then, with each renovation keeping the original layout and the same set of traditional deities.
During major festivals, the temple fills with incense smoke and the sound of drums and bells, drawing people from the surrounding streets. Neighbors stop by regularly to pray at the altars or simply sit for a moment in the open courtyard.
The temple is open to visitors during the day and entry is generally free. Those who want a quieter visit should come in the early morning, before the daily ceremonies begin.
During the Lunar New Year, the community distributes red envelopes to visitors, a practice normally reserved for family members. This makes the temple one of the few places where strangers can take part in this tradition.
