Taroko Park, Shopping and amusement complex in Cianjhen District, Taiwan
Taroko Park, now operating as SKM Park, is a shopping and leisure complex in Cianjhen District, Taiwan, arranged over four floors and housing more than 200 stores alongside a 600-meter oval racing circuit. The design draws on southern European models, with arched passageways, colonnades, and covered walkways connecting the central courtyard to the upper retail levels.
The site opened in May 2016 under the name Taroko Park and was rebranded SKM Park in January 2022 after Shin Kong Mitsukoshi took over management. The change brought a revised tenant mix and redesign of several zones, though the racing circuit continued to operate throughout.
The name Taroko comes from indigenous language roots, later adapted when the venue became SKM Park, while the building's arcade-lined facades and pastel tones evoke southern European town squares. Local families often spend entire weekends here, moving between shopping floors and the go-kart track, giving the place a hybrid leisure atmosphere found in few other Taiwanese complexes.
Exit 2 at Caoya Station on the metro brings visitors directly to the main entrance, making public transport the easiest way to arrive. Drivers will find several parking levels, though spaces fill quickly on weekends and public holidays.
The racing circuit covers 30,000 square meters and is the only one integrated into a Taiwanese shopping venue, meaning visitors can shop and then drive laps on a professional-grade track. On race days, the complex fills with motorsport fans who gather along barriers to watch drivers and vehicles up close.
