Amvrosiivka is a town in eastern Ukraine, located in the Donetsk region about 60 kilometers southeast of Donetsk. It has a straightforward layout with simple streets, residential areas, and industrial buildings that reflect its history centered on cement production and regional industry.
The town was founded in the 18th century and named after Amvrosiy Lukovkin, a brigadier and judge in the Don Army. Its official founding date is marked as 1869 when a railway station was built, connecting the town to Kursk, Kharkiv, and Azov, which spurred its development into an industrial center.
The name Amvrosiivka means 'Amvrosii's place,' showing the settlement's humble origins connected to one person. The cement industry has shaped daily life and community patterns here for generations, with the factory remaining central to how residents work and live together.
