Rock of Gibraltar, Limestone promontory in Gibraltar, United Kingdom.

The monolithic Rock of Gibraltar rises 426 meters above sea level, forming a natural boundary between the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.

The Romans named the formation Mons Calpe, establishing it as one of the Pillars of Hercules marking the western limits of the Mediterranean region.

The Upper Rock Nature Reserve contains the only population of wild monkeys in Europe, with approximately 300 Barbary macaques residing in the area.

Visitors can access multiple walking paths throughout the nature reserve, leading to observation points, caves, and historical military installations.

The interior contains a network of tunnels stretching 55 kilometers, exceeding the total length of Gibraltar's road system.
