Acrisure Stadium, Professional football stadium in North Shore, Pittsburgh, US
Acrisure Stadium is a stadium in North Shore, Pittsburgh, with 65,500 seats and a Kentucky Bluegrass playing surface that stands on the banks of the Allegheny River. From the stands, you overlook the downtown skyline, while the open design brings the river and surrounding hills into the experience.
The stadium opened in August 2001 and replaced Three Rivers Stadium as part of a major riverfront development plan. Its construction came together with PNC Park and the Convention Center to make the North Shore a new hub for sports and entertainment.
The Great Hall displays collections from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Panthers that visitors walk through on game days and during events. Fans often wear black and gold, the colors of the city, and sing traditional anthems together during matches, turning the stadium into a lively community celebration.
Visitors reach the grounds via the Allegheny Light Rail station or several parking facilities in the area, all within walking distance. Plan extra time for big games, as entrances and walkways fill quickly and security checks may take longer.
The construction used 12,000 tons of steel, a material that recalls the city's industrial past. This steelwork remains visible throughout the design, from exposed beams to railings, showing the connection between architecture and local identity.
