Top Thrill 2 is a steel launched coaster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, built around a 420-foot (128 m) top hat tower. Its two parallel tracks, one red and one white, are joined by a silver-gray lattice spine, and a red-and-white train climbs the left track. The track forms an inverted U, twisting 90 degrees on the way up and 270 degrees on the descent.
Top Thrill Dragster opened on May 4, 2003, as the world's tallest and fastest coaster at 420 feet, the first strata coaster. It closed after August 15, 2021, when a metal piece struck a guest in line, injuring her. Zamperla rebuilt it with an LSM launch and a second tower; it reopened as Top Thrill 2 on May 4, 2024, then closed after a week for train repairs and returned in 2025.
The design reflects American drag racing heritage through its launch track configuration and acceleration system that mimics professional racing vehicles.
The ride lasts less than one minute and accelerates passengers to over 120 mph (190 km/h) in seconds. Visitors sensitive to sudden speed or extreme height should consider this before riding.
Top Thrill 2's launch sequence fires the train three times: forward to about 120 km/h, backward to about 163 km/h up a new spike tower, then forward again to roughly 193 km/h over the top hat. The park calls it the world's tallest and fastest triple-launch strata coaster.
