World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, Motorsport racing complex in Madison, Illinois, US.
World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway is a motorsport complex in Madison, Illinois, that combines three distinct track configurations. The facility includes an oval course measuring roughly 1.25 miles (2 kilometers), a road course extending about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers), and a quarter-mile (402 meters) drag strip for acceleration racing.
The raceway opened in 1967 as St. Louis International Raceway and passed through several owners over the following decades. Curtis Francois purchased the facility in 2011 and invested in extensive renovations that returned it to active use for national racing series.
Visitors come here to watch three different professional racing formats at one location, something few places offer fans. Families and enthusiasts gather during events to see drivers compete on surfaces that test speed, handling, and straight-line acceleration.
Visitors will find grandstands located at several points along the courses, together with concession stands and parking areas for event days. Most racing events take place between spring and fall, with access details and ticket availability posted on the facility website.
The oval section has a pronounced egg shape that comes from its parallel alignment with Illinois Route 203. This geometry means drivers face different challenges in each turn, as the radius and banking vary from one end to the other.
