Marshall Point Light, Maritime lighthouse in Port Clyde, Maine, US.
Marshall Point Light is a white brick tower standing 9 meters high on a granite foundation in Port Clyde, connected to land by a wooden walkway. The grounds also feature a restored keeper's house that now functions as a museum for visitors.
The lighthouse was established in 1832 and received a new structure in 1857 to replace its original design. Over time it was equipped with a Fresnel lens to enhance its navigation capabilities.
The keeper's residence beside the tower now houses exhibits about maritime history and the daily work of lighthouse keepers in the region. Visitors can see how people lived and worked here to guide ships safely through the waters.
The grounds are accessible from sunrise to sunset, while the museum operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-October. Visitors should be aware that the wooden walkway may occasionally close during rough weather or high tides.
The lighthouse appeared in the 1994 film Forrest Gump during a famous running scene and has become known among movie fans ever since. This film connection has significantly increased visitor interest in exploring movie locations.
