Colton Point State Park, State park in Tioga County, United States
Colton Point State Park is a protected area in Pennsylvania featuring a deep gorge carved by Pine Creek through the region. The park contains multiple viewing areas positioned along the rim, allowing visitors to observe the dramatic landscape from different vantage points.
Intensive logging in the late 1800s completely removed the forest from this landscape. The land was later restored and eventually protected as a state park to preserve the gorge and woodland.
The Civilian Conservation Corps constructed facilities and replanted the forest in the 1930s, creating a natural space recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.
The viewing platforms along the rim are open year-round and offer good sightlines into the gorge. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for uneven terrain in some areas.
A hiking route called Turkey Path descends steeply to the creek and connects with an old rail line from the 19th century. This former transport route still traces the path lumber once traveled.
