Adam Clarke Nutt Mansion
Adam Clarke Nutt Mansion, Historic mansion in Uniontown, US.
The Adam Clarke Nutt Mansion is a three-story brick building with an irregular shape, a truncated hipped roof topped by four tall chimneys, and a centered tower at its core. The property includes a fieldstone perimeter wall and a two-story carriage house with a mansard roof.
The mansion was built in 1882 and combines Second Empire and Queen Anne architectural styles in its design. It gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
The mansion shows how wealthy families in late 19th-century Pennsylvania lived, with elaborate details and spacious rooms that reflected their status. The architecture tells the story of what mattered to people in that era.
The building sits on Nutt Avenue and can be viewed from the street with good visibility of its exterior. The location offers convenient foot access to examine the architecture and landscaping from various angles.
A porte cochere and front porch were added before 1912, showing how the original owners modified the building after it was completed. These later additions are still clearly visible today and reveal how the house evolved over time.
