Beverwyck Manor, Historic house in Rensselaer, United States.
Beverwyck Manor is a three-story residence featuring a central block with symmetrical extensions on either side. The building displays stucco-covered brick walls complemented by classical stone columns framing the main entrance.
William Paterson Van Rensselaer built this manor between 1839 and 1842, blending Greek Revival and European styles in its design. The house later became the home of St. Anthony-on-Hudson Seminary, which operated until 1989.
The manor has long been connected to St. Anthony-on-Hudson Seminary, where Franciscan monks taught students on the grounds. This religious mission shaped how the place is remembered by those who know its story.
The manor sits on St. Anthony's Lane in Rensselaer and is surrounded by open grounds. The location is accessible via local roads, and visitors can view the exterior and surrounding landscape from the property edges.
The central bay of the facade recedes inward while the flanking sections project outward, creating unexpected shadows and depth across the front. This architectural trick gives the house a more dynamic appearance than many other estates from that era.
