Cedar Covered Bridge, Covered bridge in Winterset, United States

The Cedar Bridge spans 23 meters across the North River, featuring traditional wooden truss construction and a roof that protects the structure from weather elements.

Built in 1883 by Benson Jones, the Cedar Bridge has undergone multiple reconstructions after arson incidents in 2002 and 2017, with the latest restoration completed in 2019.

The bridge gained national recognition through Robert James Waller's novel and the subsequent film adaptation starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep in 1995.

Cedar Bridge Park provides access to the structure, with designated parking areas and picnic facilities available for visitors throughout the operating hours.

This structure stands as the only covered bridge in Madison County that permits vehicle traffic, maintaining its original function while preserving historical elements.
