Cruceta del Vigía is a large reinforced concrete structure on Vigia Hill in Ponce with ten floors and an observation platform at the top. The story began in 1801 when settlers built a wooden cross atop the hill to watch for merchant ships and alert authorities to maritime dangers. The original wooden structure was eventually replaced by the concrete building you see today, transforming its practical purpose into a modern landmark.
The cross serves as a gathering place where residents and visitors come together to experience the city from above and share views of the landscape. This role has made it a space where different cultural traditions merge and coexist in the local community.
