Crawford State Park, State park and reservoir in Delta County, Colorado, United States.
Crawford State Park is a Colorado state park in Delta County, built around a reservoir in the mountains of western Colorado. The lake sits at roughly 6,600 feet (about 2,000 meters) elevation, surrounded by hillsides and exposed rock formations visible from both the shore and the trails.
The reservoir was completed in 1963 by the federal Bureau of Reclamation as part of a water management project for the region. Colorado Parks and Wildlife took over the following year, opening it to the public as a recreation area.
Fishing is a daily habit for many who come to Crawford State Park, and the lake is known locally for its yellow perch and bass. On weekends, families gather at the shore, making it a social spot as much as an outdoor one.
The park is reached by a regional highway and has several access points to the water, including a designated swim area. Some facilities are accessible for visitors with mobility needs, and camping spots are available close to the shore.
The park sits very close to Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and many visitors use it as a base before heading to the canyon the next day. This makes it one of the few lakeside spots in Colorado where you can combine water activities with a canyon visit in the same trip.
