Drakesbad Guest Ranch, Hotel in den Vereinigten Staaten
Drakesbad Guest Ranch is a historic dude ranch located in Warner Valley within Lassen Volcanic National Park. The property features a main lodge, small cabins, and dining hall, all built in rustic style and surrounded by trees and open spaces.
Edward Drake homesteaded the land in the 1880s, and in 1900 Alexander Sifford purchased the property and expanded it into a guest ranch by adding cabins and a bath house. The 2021 Dixie Fire damaged some buildings, but the ranch continues to operate and welcome guests.
The ranch takes its name from Edward Drake, who homesteaded the land in the 1880s and shaped its early story. Visitors notice a relaxed and friendly atmosphere today, where people take time to enjoy nature and spend time together.
The road to the ranch is partly gravel, so large trailers are best avoided, and the drive from the visitor center takes roughly an hour and a half. Reservations are required and many visitors book a year ahead; the place is open from June through October.
Drake's Bath is a natural hot springs pool visited for over 120 years that bubbles from the earth at about 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius). During the day the water cools to roughly 96 degrees Fahrenheit (35.6 degrees Celsius) for swimming, and at night it becomes a giant heated soak.
