Dillard Mill State Historic Site, Historic grist mill in Crawford County, United States.
Dillard Mill State Historic Site is a historic grain mill in Crawford County built on a rock wall beside Huzzah Creek with water supplied by a small dam. The red building houses industrial-era machinery that has remained in its original condition.
The building was constructed in 1908 to replace an earlier mill from 1853 and operated until 1956 when production stopped. This long period of operation shows how central such facilities were to the local economy.
The mill represents grain-milling traditions that sustained rural communities, and water power remains visible in how the site is structured around the creek's flow.
The 53-acre complex offers a 2.4 kilometer walking trail, picnic areas, and guided tours led by state staff. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and bring a camera, as the creekside setting provides good photo opportunities.
The building retains its complete original milling equipment, including a Barnard's Horizontal Bran Duster from the early industrial period, which is rarely seen in other mill museums. This specialized equipment for separating bran helps visitors understand the complexity of grain milling work.
