Executive Plaza Building

The Executive Plaza Building consists of two towers in downtown Detroit, with the taller one reaching 22 stories above Sixth Street. The complex occupies a prominent location at the intersection of Sixth Street and Howard Street, providing a notable presence in the area.

The building was constructed in 1967 and served as a state office complex for decades under Michigan government operations. In 2002, the complex changed hands when it was sold to a private owner, marking the end of government management.

The design combines international style elements with precast concrete panels and recessed corners, typical of 1970s Detroit commercial architecture. This approach shaped how downtown looked during that era and remains visible in the skyline today.

The location sits at a central intersection with convenient access via the nearby John C. Lodge Freeway. Visitors can easily reach the surrounding downtown area and other nearby destinations from this accessible point.

A separate elevator tower at the north end connects the two structures in an unusual architectural solution. The upper floors feature terraced areas on three sides, giving the complex additional open spaces.
