Felix Vallé House State Historic Site, Historic house in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.
The Felix Vallé House State Historic Site preserves an 1818 Federal-style limestone residence that showcases early 19th-century domestic architecture and furnishings from the Missouri frontier period.
Built in 1818 by Jacob Phillipson and later occupied by Felix Vallé from 1824, the house served as both a family residence and commercial headquarters for the Menard & Vallé trading enterprise.
The site demonstrates the cultural blend of French colonial heritage and American expansion in Missouri, featuring period furnishings and interpretive programs that illustrate frontier life and social customs.
Managed by Missouri State Parks, the site offers guided tours and educational programs for approximately 7,600 annual visitors who can explore the main house and additional historic structures on the 11.73-acre property.
The house features an exterior staircase leading to second-floor bedrooms and includes preserved slave quarters that acknowledge the complex social hierarchy and enslaved labor system of early Missouri society.
