Teshik-Tash, Archaeological site in Surxondaryo Region, Uzbekistan.

Teshik-Tash is a cave in the Bajsuntau mountain range with multiple sediment layers and artifacts from the Old Stone Age. The site extends deep into the mountain and displays stone tools along with other remains from early human occupation.

The cave was discovered in 1938 by archaeologist Alexey Okladnikov, who found remains dating to about 50,000 years ago. These discoveries showed that the region had been occupied by early human groups over a long span of time.

The cave shows traces of early human settlement, with visitors able to see the spaces where distant ancestors lived. The site tells through its layout about everyday activities and ritual practices that are reflected in the rock layers.

Visiting the cave requires a local guide, as the route passes through terrain that needs proper preparation. Warm clothing and sturdy footwear are essential, since the interior is cool and the paths can be uneven.

The cave contains remains of ibex horns arranged in a specific pattern around human bones. This arrangement suggests to researchers that they were part of early ritual practices.
