Tallimarjon Suv Ombori, reservoir in Uzbekistan
Tallimarjon Suv Ombori is a large reservoir in Uzbekistan located near Nuriston in the Qashqadaryo region. The water body stretches across flat land and serves irrigation and power generation needs for the surrounding area.
Construction of the reservoir began in the 1960s with the building of dams and channels. Water began filling in 1977 and was completely filled by 1985, creating a vital water source for agricultural irrigation in the region.
The area is dry and hot in summer with temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius), so plan visits for fall or spring when weather is milder. The shore is accessible for walking and offers open views, though there are few facilities nearby.
Water from the reservoir serves not only irrigation but also powers a nearby power station through long pipelines extending many kilometers across the land. This dual purpose of water management and energy generation makes it a key part of local infrastructure.
