Citadel of the Hồ Dynasty

The rectangular stone citadel measures 870 meters from north to south and 883 meters from east to west, with four monumental gates marking each direction.

The citadel functioned as the western capital of Vietnam during the Hồ dynasty from 1398 to 1407, serving as a military and administrative center.

The fortress design incorporates Vietnamese and Chinese architectural elements, reflecting the fusion of Confucian principles with Buddhist traditions in medieval Vietnam.

Visitors can access all four gates of the citadel, with the southern entrance rising 9.5 meters high and extending 15 meters in width.

The walls consist of massive stone blocks averaging two meters in length, assembled without mortar yet maintaining structural integrity for over 600 years.
