Thien Cung Cave, Limestone cave in Halong Bay, Vietnam

Thien Cung Cave is a limestone cavern in Halong Bay featuring multiple chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites. Colored lighting illuminates these rock formations throughout the cave, helping visitors navigate and observe the different geological features.

Local fishermen discovered the cave entrance in 1993 after it had remained hidden beneath thick jungle vegetation. The finding came about by chance when the fishermen sought shelter during a storm and stumbled upon the concealed opening.

Local legend tells that the Dragon King and his bride celebrated their wedding here, surrounded by divine beings. This story is woven into how people today understand and value the place.

The cave is accessible by organized boat tours departing from Halong Bay, where guides explain the rock formations along the way. Wear comfortable shoes since the ground is uneven and there are steep steps to navigate inside.

Four massive natural pillars support the cave ceiling from within. Wind flowing through rock crevices produces sounds that resemble traditional drums, creating an unexpected acoustic effect.
