Tam Cốc – Bích Động

Tam Coc - Bich Dong is a cave system carved through limestone mountains by the Ngo Dong River flowing across rice fields. The complex includes multiple caves accessible by boat and a pagoda situated on the mountainside.

The Bich Dong Pagoda section was established in 1428 during the Le Dynasty and marks an important point in local spiritual history. The pagoda is distributed across several levels ascending the mountain and reflects architectural development over centuries.

Local boatmen demonstrate traditional rowing techniques using their feet as they navigate through the waterways. This distinctive method of propulsion is deeply rooted in the region's identity.

Access to the caves comes through a boat journey starting from Van Lam, passing limestone formations and agricultural landscapes along the way. It is advisable to set aside time for exploration and wear comfortable clothing, as surfaces can be slippery.

Each of the three caves has a different size, offering varying depth perspectives during boat journeys through them. This variation makes each cave visually distinct and leaves different impressions depending on which one you explore.
