The bridge spans 2750 meters across the Hau River, featuring a central span of 550 meters supported by concrete towers rising 175 meters.
Construction began in September 2004 with Japanese financial support of 342 million USD, leading to the bridge opening for traffic in April 2010.
The bridge towers shape resembles joined hands, reflecting traditional Asian design elements while connecting the Cần Thơ and Vinh Long regions.
The structure includes four traffic lanes of 3.5 meters each, two pedestrian paths of 2.75 meters, and maintains a 39-meter clearance for river vessels.
A memorial site near Bo De Temple commemorates 55 workers who lost their lives during a construction accident in September 2007.
